mono junk�s cult label dum records is back with a new five track various artists ep that again packs a vital punch. he appears himself along with some fellow legends of the scene. first up, morpholgy is a consistent performer who has continued to serve up quality electro since 2009 and here serves up a hot new piece. �vector plant� is busy and industrial, slick and metallic as it unfolds and burrows deep into your veins. then comes the a2, irwin berg featuring freestyle man (aka finnish moodmusic boss sasse aka klas lindblad) with a track made in 1995 and never released before. this pair worked together and made a cult electro record for sähkö recordigs in 1998 and this one is just as impactful. it is frosty and frazzled, slow motion but high impact and full of distorted lines and heavy drums. next is mr velcro fastener who were the first kings of electro to come out of finland and between 1999 and 2006 were famous all over the world. their brand new cut �almost there� is a deep one that is riddled with bleeping melodies and has smeared chords bringing a sci-fi feel. then it is mono junk�s turn to dive into the vaults with an unreleased track from 2005. �feeling or destroy� is a physical number with crashing hits and snaking, gurgling bass that is dark and dystopian. last of all comes irwin berg with mono junk as new york city survivors. says the dum boss, �our unreleased track here was made after the new york city survivors � static light cd 2002� and it is a turbo charged track with screwed up grinding bass, icy hi hat rhythms and menace in its grooves.

veil of light is the synth/postpunk solo project of a mystery man from zurich known to the wider world only as m. the project was born in 2012 when all the tracks for the veil of light eponymous 2013 ep released on belaten were recorded by m in a bunker near zurich. that last fact incidentally is a good way to describe the music released under this project�s name much like the mental image of a bunker it is cold dark and forces one into a contemplative resigned state. the influences that immediately come to mind listening to veil of light are 1980�s wave music post punk industrial and dark ambient all weaved together by an overarching depressive yet dreamy atmosphere. it has been called gothgaze and the description seems apt. the followup to the opener the 7� cold skin single released on edition gris and the debut lp simply titled as well as this years head/blood/chest ep continue in the same vein.

the album was written, produced, and distributed in garys hometown baltimore, between 1986 and 1987. after a break from performing while getting belated college degrees, gary returned to performing in the early 21st century, back to the singer/songwriter style of his past. gary feels that the generic art ensemble/original soundtrack days gave him an ability to open up his writing. his recent albums feature guitar, but many songs do have keyboards added to give them a fuller, less folky sound.

fans of tramp records may remember the band the bionic i. their song disco claus was featured on the third volume of santa s funk & soul christmas party. actually, the city news are none else than the bionic i! eric dunbar, member of both outfits, got introduced to the piano at age 5. in 1969 he started playing music with the city news band, a new orleans rhythm & blues band. bustin up is the side unless you like the kung-fu craze inspired chan the man that was around in 1975.

following his stunning everything is nothing ep, which kicked off the hubble telescope series for solar one music in 2015, luxus varta (aka emeric di paolo) is back with a new four track ep for french label, intramuros. �rosenhan experiment� (named after david rosenhan�s famous study to determine the validity of psychiatric diagnosis, published in 1973 under the title �on being sane in insane places�) takes us on another electro trip into the human mind with paris the black fu from detroit grand pubahs once again making an appearance, on the track �losquato�. the ep opens with the wonderfully shimmering �wenn� before luxus varta makes striking use of his background as a drummer on �lizzy�. �losquato� is a playful addition with stripped back rhythms under paris� story telling that bemoans a man�s work frustrations and resulting mental state (�i gave up therapy about a month ago. my therapist jumped out of a window�), while closer �tempsun� is almost melancholy in its measured minimalism. recommended for lovers of drexciya and dopplereffekt.

(the real) kent clark, who so far has only one release on bordello s riviera disco series follows up with an electro-boogie dub workout entitled make it right . our man in holland: aux tha masterfader, takes us back to the old-school with the linndrum breakdance beast, let s dance to the beat ... he commands, we obey. closing up is dilemma, who recalls the memory of the early days of belgium s debauched nightlife with searing leads and low-motion grooves in bocca nights .

opening things up, the sinister title track is a dense, winding affair built around staggered tribal patters and powered along with a brooding reese bassline. he/at�s �set openers� have become something he is known for and this is definitely one of his most dramatic. after that madness, �it�s impossible to describe the smell of a wet dog� strips things right down with subtly chaotic-timed rhythms and synth-work. kind of minimal...but not.
on the flip side, �a drama out of a crisis� is a straight-up new-meets-old techno stomper with early beltram-esq beats and modulated melodies, before the ep closes out with the rawness, �the man who made husbands jealous� is a tough acidic kind of work out with an infectious hook we think you�re going to like.

kian t, a self-confessed analogue synth addict, steps up for the 6th secret reels release and with an ep on big bait already under his belt and one forthcoming on toy tonics, 2016 is looking like a vintage year for this italian producer. this ep is all about tough beats, warm & punchy synth lines and a few dusty vinyl samples thrown in for good measure. kian s production values are always on point, and these 3 tracks are no exception, instantly standing out from the crowd. on remix duties is man of the moment daniel leseman. his solo productions and remixes are firm favourites with a vast swathe of top djs. he is also one half of fouk, alongside junktion, who have absolutely taken over recently with releases on heist, razor-n-tape, house of disco and not to mention their own label outplay. daniel turns the tough syncopated beats of flughafen into a shimmering, funk-laden piece of house.

opilec music is back with this special va signed by the cosmic acclaimed italian disco stars daniele baldelli & marco dionigi. both are regular remixers at the label and close friends to gianluca i-robots pandullo. having never been released before on vinyl these tracks show their unique style, and their ability to be reworked into a modern sound. 1980 s gogogo by the swiss electronic pioneers schaltkreis wassermann is taken from the classic psychotron album produced by pj & stella (r.i.p) wassermann, which has recently been re-released by private records germany.

lars von licht�s -from arrows� is exactly one of this sort: an almost 15min live jam, both simple and sophisticated. a track for special moments and for special people, perfect for reanimating supérieur. one of the frst persons whom i gave this tune last year s summer was lee burridge, who played it straight away at burning man. admittedly, this release took some time, but we wanted to fnd the right moment and the right remixer. we considered many options but came back to one of our own people in the end. dodi palese who released his connaisseur debut earlier this year, felt like the right person to challenge this track and we were right. he has transformed it into a tribalistic high energy bomb, with an unexpected, big synth theme, blowing you away. yes, we are more than happy about this release and it was well worth the wait.

if anything, stojche�s take on detroit inspired techno rarely requires your permission for engagement. the fifth installment of his own label, tangible assets, is no different. this singular producer always manages to conjure up otherworldly atmospheres that resonate from head to feet. with that said, we could spend the next three paragraphs throwing around adjectives and splashing colorful words all over this press release regarding his sound, the aesthetic within each track in this release, and we could even volunteer a side helping of words that somehow make sense of this young producers studio ability. one thing however is for certain. tang005�s true charm lies in its ability to capture an honesty and sincerity that�s as captivating as it is transcendent. there�s a clinical yet organic approach that stojche adopts time and time again in formulating his tangible asset releases, and if anything, tang005 should provide further evidence of his depth, maturity and innate ability to create enchantment. this record is wrapped in captivating moments born from flourishing stabs, twilight synths, rolling charges of calculated manic rhythms and subatomic motions living within a range of intricately programmed beats. add to that a host of cinematic sweeps that develop into harmonic clouds of melancholy and you�re one step closer to the true romance etched within the grooves of this record. once again, stojche has created an ep that catalyses imagination. a series of intense voyages with thoughtfully considered moments and movements that have been executed by a man well in tune with his craft.
